Definition: Gore-Tex®

Gore-Tex® is a membrane used in many ECCO shoes across all ranges. The membrane is placed between the outer layer of the shoe upper and the inner lining layer. The microporous structure of the membrane is what makes it both waterproof and breathable. Each microscopic pore is about 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, which means external moisture cannot penetrate the membrane. The pores are also 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule, this means that moisture from the foot can pass through it.

ECCO footwear with Gore-Tex® is:

  • 100% waterproof.
  • 3 times more breathable than normal leather.
  • Provides climate control for the foot by helping to regulate the temperature within the shoe.
